Across the weekend, no category was decided solely by qualifying pace. Momentum shifted through heats and super heats before finals rewarded the drivers who executed when it mattered most.
Mini MAX delivered one of the round’s most competitive rotations at the front. Saif Zulqarnayn set the benchmark in qualifying and remained the reference point through Heat 2 and the Super Heat, while William Mazzali answered with victory in Heat 1. That momentum carried into the Final. Mazzali delivered when it counted most, taking victory ahead of Kenzie Erizananda, while Umar Al Fateh completed the podium despite carrying a five-second penalty that did not alter his finishing position.
Junior MAX was defined by the consistency of Aakil Rungta. Rungta opened the weekend by securing pole position before converting that pace into victory in Heat 1 and another front-running finish in Heat 2. Although Chong Ka Hei struck back in the Super Heat, with Rungta carrying a five-second penalty but retaining second, the final swung back in Rungta’s favour. He converted his pace into overall victory, with Sujana Dandu securing second after a composed run through the weekend and Zavian Fabrizio completing the podium.
Senior MAX produced the most evenly distributed fight of the weekend. Conrad Garrow led qualifying, Leonardo Mauri struck first in Heat 1, and Kimi Rae Fitriansyah responded with victory in Heat 2. The Super Heat briefly swung back toward Garrow, but the Final belonged to Fitriansyah, who converted his pace into the category win ahead of Mauri and Garrow.
Across all three categories, the Malaysia weekend highlighted the depth of competition throughout the regional ROK field, with final results shaped less by outright qualifying pace and more by adaptability through each race phase.
The concurrent championship structure only amplified the stakes, with every session carrying significance across two standings simultaneously.
Editor's note: ROK Cup Malaysia Round 1 ran concurrently with ROK Cup Asia Round 2 at LYL International Karting Circuit, with identical official result sheets applying to both championships.
