Onishi, Shunji and a New Wave of Winners Headline RMC Japan Double-Header at Mizunami

Micro MAX

Rui Mikami set the pace in qualifying for Round 5 and recovered from a three-second false-start penalty in Heat 1 to take victory in the Final. Hugo Liang and Zhang Feisen completed the podium, while Takao Kunibo, who had won Heat 2, retired from the Final.

Round 6 produced another dramatic result for Mikami. He was classified ninth in Heat 1 after a ten-second dangerous-driving penalty despite crossing the line first, then finished second in Heat 2. A further five-second penalty for causing a collision in the Final dropped him to 11th, allowing Tensei Murakami to take victory ahead of Hal Urushido and Hugo Liang.

Mini MAX

Tomoya Onishi converted strong heat pace into the Round 5 Mini MAX victory. After winning two of the three heats, he led the Final from the front to beat Ayumu Kawabata and Lucas Keary.

Onishi repeated the result in Round 6, again taking the Final win after victories in Heat A-C and Heat A-B. Keary finished second this time, with Yasuhiro Kanou completing the podium.

Junior MAX

Round 5 belonged to Itsuki Ikemi in the Final after Takai Taneda had controlled qualifying and two of the heats. Ikemi won ahead of Kosei Imamura and Toshiki Teranishi on a semi-wet track, with penalties and technical infringements shaping several positions behind the podium.

The category changed hands again in Round 6, with Takeru Shibasaki taking the Final win after also winning Heat B-C. Imamura followed in second, while Ikemi secured another podium in third.

Senior MAX

Koki Kikuchi emerged victorious in the wet Round 5 Final after trading wins with Hayato Oyamada throughout the heats. Yusei Seki finished second, with Oyamada completing the podium.

Round 6 saw Teruyoshi Endo take the top step after a strong run through the heats. Jin Sakai finished second and Ren Tomita third, while several penalties and disqualifications altered the final order further down the field.

MAX Masters

Shunji Okamoto was the standout performer across the MAX Masters double-header. After qualifying third in Round 5, he converted his heat pace into Final victory ahead of Kazuma Kimura and Manabu Yamazaki.

Okamoto repeated the feat in Round 6, winning the Final again with Kimura second and Kengo Sugiyama third. The back-to-back victories made him one of the clearest performers of the weekend across both rounds.

Across the two rounds at Mizunami, the results reflected a championship where qualifying pace did not always translate directly into the Final. Penalties, changing track conditions and multiple race winners kept the order moving, with Onishi and Okamoto emerging as the only drivers to secure consecutive Final victories.
