As one Japanese star bagged his first win of the season, the other added his name to the history books by taking the title with one race to spare

Ryota Ogiwara took a ninth podium of his 2025 season to be crowned Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup Champion in Race 1 at Sepang. A battle at the start with title rival Seiryu Ikegami saw both of them go head-to-head before the likes of Mandalika double winner Alfonsi Daquigan, Noprutpong Bunprawes and Haruki Matsuyama joined in. There was drama on the opening lap for Shingo Iidaka, who fell after contact with Bodie Paige, resulting in a double Long Lap Penalty for the latter whilst Iidaka’s race ended – along with his quest for the overall bronze medal. In the closing stages, Ikegami pulled the pin to notch up a first win of 2025 whilst Ogiwara rode to a classy P2, guaranteeing him the title. Ikegami is the runner-up for this year whilst Filipino star Daquigan has also clinched the bronze medal with a round to spare.

Ogiwara’s 2025 campaign has been dominant with a record eight wins in a single season and whilst the top three in the standings are all locked in, there’s plenty of pride to be had in our final outing tomorrow, as well as the battle for P4 overall!
