The 2026 Super Formula Lights season kicked off at Fuji Speedway with a competitive triple-header, as Yusuke Mitsui and Evan Giltaire emerged as the defining performers across the opening round.

Race 1 saw Yusuke Mitsui deliver a breakthrough performance for Delightworks Racing, converting pole position into his maiden victory. Maintaining composure under pressure, Mitsui controlled the race from the front to secure a confident win, with Kiyoshi Umegaki finishing a close second after applying sustained pressure throughout. Evan Giltaire marked an impressive debut by completing the podium in third, showcasing immediate adaptability to the championship.

In Race 2, Giltaire stepped up to claim his first victory in the series. Starting from the front, the B-Max Racing driver utilised clean execution and strong race pace to pull away from the field. Mitsui continued his consistent form with a second-place finish, defending well under late pressure, while Tokiya Suzuki secured third with a measured drive.

Race 3 returned the spotlight to Mitsui, who capped off a standout weekend with his second victory. Delivering a lights-to-flag performance, he demonstrated strong race management and consistency across the 15-lap sprint. Umegaki once again finished second, reinforcing his position as a consistent front-runner, while Giltaire secured his third podium of the weekend with a third-place finish.

Across all three races, Mitsui and Giltaire established themselves as early championship contenders, combining race wins with consistent podium finishes to set the tone for the season ahead.
