Early sessions highlighted the competitive depth across classes and manufacturers. Climax Racing set the tone in Silver Am through Lichao Li and Elias Seppanen, while Absolute Racing quickly established itself as a key contender. Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak and Bastian Buus led the Pro Am pace in practice, and Akash Nandy topped the Silver class, signalling a strong start for the team.

Qualifying reinforced that momentum. Nandy secured Silver class pole in the opening session, while Absolute Racing’s Huang and Ghiretti took Pro Am pole on debut. In Qualifying 2, Inthraphuvasak and Buus delivered a standout lap to secure another Pro Am pole, completing a double pole result for Absolute Racing across the weekend.

Race 1 was defined by strategy execution. A well-timed undercut allowed Ruohan Huang and Alessandro Ghiretti in the #911 Absolute Racing entry to take control and secure overall victory along with the Pro Am class win. Nandy backed up his qualifying performance with a composed drive to finish second overall while claiming the Silver class victory. In Silver Am, Uchiyama and Kondo maintained consistent pace to secure their class win.

Race 2 shifted the spotlight to Origine Motorsport. Alessio Picariello made an aggressive and decisive start, overtaking the pole-sitting car early, before handing over to Wei Lu, who controlled the race with a measured and efficient stint. The pair secured overall victory and the Pro Am class win, marking Lu’s seventh career win in the series, setting a new benchmark in GT World Challenge Asia history. The result was further emphasised by a Porsche podium lockout.

Elsewhere, Brian Lee and Maxime Oosten took victory in Silver Am, while Yi Deng and Kaishun Liu produced one of the drives of the weekend, climbing ten positions to win the Silver class.

Across both races, Sepang delivered a clear indication of the season ahead. Multiple manufacturers featured at the front, strategy played a decisive role, and consistency across stints proved critical. With Huang and Ghiretti leading the Pro Am standings and Origine Motorsport establishing early momentum, the championship now heads to Mandalika with a competitive and unpredictable field.
