After a two-month break since the previous round at Sportsland SUGO, the Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship is finally back in action again this weekend. With only four rounds across two events left, the battle for the 2025 championship is heading into its climax stage. Under the theme of Halloween, Fuji Speedway got into the festive mood, with the fans dressing up for the occasion while enjoying several on- as well as off-track events. However, on the first day of the doubleheader weekend, the weather played more of a trick rather than a treat. Due to heavy rain and poor visibility, the race had to get called after 12 laps behind the safety car, with polesitter Sacha Fenestraz (VANTELIN TEAM TOM’S) taking his first win since returning to Japan this year.

Only half-points were awarded since less than 75% of the total distance of 36 laps were completed. Tsuboi managed to increase his lead to now 104.5 points ahead of Iwasa (90 points), who lost a bit of ground after scoring zero points on Saturday. Ohta (89 points) remains ahead of his teammate Makino (78 points).

With his victory, Fenestraz (47 points) managed to shorten the gap to Nojiri in 5th (63.5 points) position of the standings. With three races remaining and a total of 69 points still up for grabs, the title race remains open. Ahead of the regular podium ceremony, Japan Race Promotion Chairman of the Board Masahiko Kondo was joined by all 22 drivers on the podium to address the fans, thanking them for their strong support despite the bad weather.
