Professionals
Former National Champion Senthil Kumar made his debut in the Professionals category with a perfect weekend, taking victory in each of the three races.
Allwin Xavier and Anish D Shetty completed every podium, with the pair exchanging second and third across the round. Xavier finished second in Race 1 with Shetty third, before Shetty reversed the order in Races 2 and 3 to claim P2 honours twice.
Amateurs
Kabir Sahoch matched Kumar’s three-win run in the Amateurs category, establishing himself as the benchmark of the opening round.
Saurav Dey was Sahoch’s closest challenger in the first two races, finishing second on both occasions. Brandon Dsouza took third in Race 1, while Vaibhav Rao completed the podium in Race 2.
Race 3 produced the only change among the leading positions behind Sahoch, with Harish Yodhin finishing second and Prashaant C third.
The opening round leaves both categories with clear leaders, although the battle for second in the Professionals class is already closely contested between Xavier and Shetty. The new split-grid format will now move to its next round with Kumar and Sahoch setting the early pace.
