Ayumu Iwasa controlled the entire SUPER POLE QUALIFYING session, setting the fastest time in Q1, Q2, and Q3 to secure pole position with a 1:25.866. He was the only driver to break into the 1:25s, underlining his pace advantage across all sessions. Kakunoshin Ohta qualified second, edging Tomoki Nojiri by just 0.005 seconds, with the top three covered comfortably behind Iwasa’s benchmark.
The knockout format returned for the first time since 2021, but interruptions featured early. A red flag in Q1B reshaped the session, though Iwasa’s pace remained unaffected as he continued to lead each phase through to pole.
Race day conditions deteriorated rapidly. Rain intensified ahead of the scheduled start, forcing multiple delays before the race eventually began behind the Safety Car. Standing water and poor visibility led to an immediate red flag, with all cars halted on the main straight.
With conditions continuing to worsen, officials confirmed the race would not resume. The final was cancelled without a racing lap completed, leaving qualifying results as the defining outcome of the weekend.
Iwasa leaves Autopolis with pole position secured but without the opportunity to convert it into points, as discussions continue around a potential replacement race.
