Marcus Amand emerged as the benchmark of the Fuji double-header. After qualifying second for Race 5, Amand fought through an early three-way battle with Marvin Klein and Rodrigo Dias Almeida before gradually taking control of the race, crossing the line 1.341 seconds clear for victory.
Race 6 delivered an even tighter contest. Azlan secured pole with a stunning 1:39.853 lap, the fastest time of the entire weekend and the only lap below the 1m40s barrier. But when the lights went out, Amand attacked immediately into Turn 1 and took the lead before the opening sector had settled. Azlan remained attached to the rear bumper throughout the race, but Amand absorbed the pressure to secure a second consecutive win by just 0.304 seconds.
Marvin Klein opened the weekend strongly with Race 5 pole position and converted it into second place behind Amand. He followed that with another podium in Race 6, finishing third and leaving Fuji with three consecutive podium finishes across the double-header.
Azlan’s weekend became one of redemption. After a Turn 1 incident in Race 5 ended his afternoon almost immediately, the Malaysian driver responded emphatically in qualifying for Race 6 with the benchmark lap of the weekend. Though he narrowly missed victory in the race itself, the pace shown throughout Sunday confirmed his place firmly within the title fight.
Marco Giltrap produced arguably the drive of the weekend in Race 5. A five-place grid penalty dropped him from third on the grid to eighth before the start, but the New Zealander sliced through the field in uninterrupted green-flag conditions to recover onto the podium in third. He added another points finish in Race 6 to remain firmly in championship contention at the halfway point.
PRO-AM
The Pro-Am category produced two different winners across the Fuji races. Li Kerong took the Round 5 class victory, while Wang Zhongwei responded in Race 6 with a class win that also placed him inside the overall top 10.
AM
In AM, Bergwerk closed the weekend strongly with a one-two finish in Race 6, led by Eric Kwong ahead of Henry Kwong. Wu Jiaxin added another podium for the category across the weekend.
MASTERS
The Masters class also split its victories. Christian Chia claimed the Round 5 win, while Adrian D Silva emerged on top in the second race after a Safety Car interruption reshaped the running order. Jacky Wu’s back-to-back podium finishes marked one of the most consistent weekends in class.
Fuji sharpened the championship picture considerably. Amand leaves Japan with the strongest momentum in the field, but Azlan’s pace and Giltrap’s consistency ensure the fight remains wide open as Porsche Carrera Cup Asia heads next to the Bangsaen Grand Prix in Thailand.
